just screwing around

I have managed to leave the endless mountains- it wasn’t simple- for the 1st time not in a city that I wanted a GPS- the Gil positioning system was failing for some unknown reason- maybe it was the gram pie- never heard of this pie before- which is why it was selected- but there is no need to repeat previous mistakes…

Endless is a rich place= Old money as the locals call it and a hospital which was actually just a house at some point- the fall is threatening to break- most trees are green but some are yellow or red – and my favorite season is approaching- to bad its always the shortest one.

This was my 1st solo install- and I was not nervous for a second- which is surprising to me- I assumed I would be- and today was my 1st solo sales demo- since someone was sick-and I was calm- must be the air. The last part of the install – I had to crate the old carts and ship them back- not an issue with a drill – which I had- so I was drilling and dentists from all over came asking what is that noise- and then the drill decided to take a break- it lacked electricity powder. The person who screwed these crates did a thorough job- lots of screws and lots of time to screw and screw- note to self- when you are told to take a spare battery- listen!, than again I never listen… so this will happen again

I was bonding with the staff- had a discussion with a holistic nurse about doctors giving to many medications- she wanted to recommend acupuncture – I saved my comments to myself.

And a discussion with the local pharmacist which is Lebanese- so we had a short political discussion where we both agreed to get rid of all governments for the good of all mankind.

At endless I didn’t see the famous fat fingered nurses- they must have retired – and I spent a night at an amazing bed and breakfast –the breakfast was simple- cereal but the house!- 19th century Victorian house- and every corner and room are full of taste- I have photos from my phone- forgot my camera….but had a great lasagna(best so far in the US)

I was in the purple room – named for it’s purple walls- not original I agree but a nice bed. So I left the endless mountains and moved to Carthage, new York- a spit away from Canada- and after my demo- I went to view the surrounding- you may recall seeing a junk mail about an area with 1000 islands- each with a big house between lakes….this is where I am right now- on the US Canada border overlooking 3…7 of the 1000 islands- some are very small so I don’t know how they count… there is a photographer here- sitting and waiting for the “right” time to click- I don’t have that patience- so I got some quick photos and sat down.

Today is 9/11 and the TV and radio shows ceremonies all day- but the street appear indifferent- no flags are posted on houses, or cars- the streets are empty- there is a small dog show behind me- just another day.

I think I saw my 1st possum- it was on the road- but surprisingly alive- I seen lots of new animals in a less active mode- so it’s good to see one making it.

Sun is coming down- the photographer is focusing on something unclear- I am 3 minutes away from the border but I am not going through- you may guess that I don’t have my passport- that will be a good guess normally but not today- the days of the quick check are over- now I am in the experiencing mode- under a day is not enough for any normal area- but I will find the time.

Have you ever seen a town made from water?- neither have I, but I am staying in Watertown ,ny- and that is a normal city-not even on a lake!!!-bunch of lying town founding fathers

It’s time to go (mosquitoes…)

Enjoy the photos (sorry for the phone quality)

p.s does anybody know if the sauce comes from here?

the south west dillema - continue

A few hours later- after a kick ass exam…

It’s a rainy Chicago- I took my umbrella yesterday from the closet for the 1st time- but didn’t take it with me so I kind of got soaked today- so right now I am at the cinema- waiting for the rain to stop.

‘Traitor’[ is a predictable but interesting movie- 8.5 on the suicide terrorist greatest hits

I saw commercial which I usually try to avoid- some type of ocean 14 is approaching- pit, cloonyi and john malcovic- looks promising- but we’ll see

The Israeli consulate is a strange place- in the 80s movies (and 24) it’s always a house- but these one’s are a simple secured office on the 13th floor- very well secured- and dull. If you can’t trust movie reality what can you trust.

So I remembered yuval telling us about endless- and the ‘big fingered nurses’ there and great food- tomorrow I will see for myself- so far I have not seen those type of nurses- in the hospitals I have been in.

Oh- football…. As I’ve said – I had no favorite – so I knew I adopt the local team- in this case ohio state, there is also ohio U- which are the lesser ohio team (like hapoel) – in Cleveland there is but one- and at Marks= they played each other. So my first college game was the derbi- very fearfull ½ half time- with the wrong Ohio leading – ended with a victory for the god guys (Which are red- like hapoel) but they win!!! So they are not hapoel- -- like Manchester- the red I can relate too.

The local NFL team is the Cleveland browns- I don’t know why they are called browns-  but that issue yesterday raised the question of the red sox- where did that name came from- I said- it was from the fifties – time of anti communism- the ‘red sucks!’

But this is Chicago and the club here is the ‘white sucks’ – so that must be an African American team.

so this test cost me 2 shows- I passed on the beach boys- yes they are still alive and the one 2 hit wonder of hermans hermits( btw happy birthday shai herman, dad, meirav mandelman, yuval gatenio)- 4 bloglisters in one week! + a rare wedding of 2 of the 40+ on the list with each other- have a great life together yuval g and michal (soon g also))

the hits are ‘no milk today’ and ‘there’s a kind of hush all over the world’ btw

but – I am planning on not missing the next show- though conflict- damn work always in the way- just found I may miss it again- unless I do crazy changes to my schedule- I think I should

- the concert in 3 hours away in Canada

as an asthmatic person- I must get a steady supply of air- so I have to go back to Detroit (it’s 20 minutes away in Canada on the other side of the border- on a Friday night- I am coming back from Mississippi that night- so it will be a challenge.

Btw if you don’t know air supply- perhaps the kitschiest band of all times (I’m all out of love, goodbye, and many others)- then go on you tube and listen.

So my upcoming trip- I will miss Paul McCartney – who performs 3 days too early in tel aviv and robin Williams, in Cleveland -  so nothing is perfect

But I can’t complain(though I do…) – I better go check if the rain had stopped- don’t want to get wet again- damn useless umbrella in the car.

Oh- south west- I forgot about ,my headline- by far the nicest air line in America- they have an interesting system of sit where ever on the plane- according to who checked in 1st- not on sit assignment- but when you check in 1st- you look at the people after you and the question is –can you affect their choices- since it’s not assigned- you can control it – you don’t want big guys- which take too much space and leave no elbow room for you, you don’t want babies – since sleep is needed at times- so how and if can you control it- that is the dilemma- I was unlucky this morning with a big spreading guy- hope later there will be an empty sit (Evening flight are less busy- people go but don’t come back.)

Next report from endless mountain, Montrose PA

P.S good luck Israel against Moldova

the south west dillema

It's about 45 minutes before my last test for a while (2 whole months with no test seems like a lot right now) and I need to distract myself.

Last week I saw turn left at the end of the road (סוף העולם שמאלה), for the 1st time and other then the movie being good, I was surprised by the amount of nudity- how come nobody told me about that? But tomorrow I am going to another end of a road- endless mountain ,PA. that place is famous for having nothing but McDonald according to mr mergi who visited there a few years ago and had lots of fun. We will see, perhaps they added subway or something. A nice 6 hours drive to get there- never driven that long by my self, so it will be interesting. I am right now in Chicago again- for the test- I planned to research the city, but didn't get around to do it- the only thing I researched was movie times at a nearby theatre, Wallee. I went to that theatre the last time I was here- and was surprised about parking prices- it's down town Chicago- but 16$ for parking for movie goers seems to much- there was a big sign – saying it's a special- that is more than the cost of the movie!

I was never the pop in type ( you may recall a Seinfeld episode on this issue)- a friend of mine was insulted when I told him that (he was the type)- thought I might have meant it towards him, I was not. Coming just for talking is not for me, I need to do something and talk during- so on Saturday we( Cleveland office +dates/wives/husbands/ kids etc..) were invited to a barbeque at Mark's house- for mostly talking. A good quality humus was served- finally- with good Harif!!!! – and we got to meet the families of people we work with, and watch football.

I watched maybe 1 actual super ball before and never any other fooball games- but some football movies- so I know the general rules- but never had a favorite

Will continue after the test….

surprises

As you know I like to cook, but never done that for a while (soup in a can, microwave is not cooking)- so it was time to break in the new kitchen

So I made schnitzel and my chili Gili – a great personal invention dish now famous in 4 continents!!! (Israel is Asia, Right). That and achla humus- they sell achla, Osem soup almonds  here close by- great meal.

Last weekend was a studding weekend – another enjoyable test is coming up- but we stopped for the taste of Cleveland – like ‘ta’am hair’  but not as good, though still ok- I tried my 1st key lime pie- it’s strange to see a glow in the dark pie- the sauce kind of glows- and was an ok pie but not amazing.

I have never been abroad in rosh hashana- I spent a few kipurs abroad- one in Italy, one in san Francisco (at a reform synagogue- then we went for pepperoni pizza)

But never rosh hashana- so this should have been my 1st- but it will not

I will be in Israel on 09/29 – for about 3 weeks (kipur and 1st sucot included)- so it will be fun

Mostly work- and traveling holidays- did someone say kipur in the dead sea again?

In real estate news- my tenant is moving out and taking my cat with him to Haifa- and I have new tenants- so I have to formally fire my neighbor from the nezeq news channel position- sorry the cat is out of the bag- I know you liked him too.

So looking forward for happy holidays
