FW: never go shoping when you are tierd! from june

 

I am imaging my mom’s face right now- what did he buy now?

Well nothing actually – I had just things to get done for my date with Alla

Yes alla is a girl and not just a god.

Lots of things happened this week- this will probably be a long one

It is close to midnight and I jot got back from a scavenger hunt- but lets go back to last week

 

I was given a phone number of a physical therapist’s sister-so a very late match making attempt- I was sure this would happen a lot sooner, so Alla is a native of Moscow- did alia at the age of 7 to nazarath ilit- and moved at the age of 15 to Cleveland with her family- so we spoke for 2 hours on the phone- in English- though she understand and speaks some Hebrew- she is a student of pharmacy and we work with pharmacists.

and had a very nice full of laughs kind of date on Friday- and at the end- she says she is unsure- lets be friends- but emails me the next day- so I don’t understand- I watched ‘what woman want’- twice – and I still don’t have a clue.

The problem is she studies 1.5 hours from here and she’s has tests – so I wait…

Any way – my match maker invited me for july 4^th- some kind of holiday here, to meet and mingle and said---they have a very cute daughter- so we’ll see.

So I met niki this week- also jewish –and married- but it was not a date- don’t worry- those things are not my style- niki’s job is to bring the local jewish community closer by mingling them- both socially and business- both are good for me- so well see what happens next.

 

So than came jet skiing with nina- just so youl know- 55 degrees is cold- and though I did shower once in a glacier lake- which was very cold- 55 is still cold. There is a group called my personally water craft- my personal water craft is a water bottle- but these people have jet skis and other equipment – and they talk like- did you know that this engine is a 2.3 point bla with that part and all that crap- I don’t care- I just want it to go fast.

So I went to a jet ski meeting- which is not a skiing printer (laser jet printer)- like some one on this list asked me.

And no one came but me and nina- apparently not all jet skis are the same- hers was not powerful enough for 2- but we went for a ride-10 fun minutes- she’s with a wet suit and I am with a sharwal and long shirt (improvised cold water gear).  Nina works for the department of defense- and wants to go to the FBI since it is boring in the DOD- the FB has more action- crazy people – she actually bought a 100 year old house and is renovating it-and she tells about it in details- I was impressed (she has a dirt bike, a jet ski, 3 cars (SUV, fire bird and a mustang) and has wakeboarding equipment)- so we spoke for an hour later and she went back to removing the old paint job and I went home- tomorrow there is another jet ski meet up- well see.

Later that day I went to a riboff- which is a rib cook off festival- the American fat society is concern that Americans don’t eat enough meet- so they arrange these events- a 4 day rib eating extravaganza – so I had to try

The ribs were good but not something worh doing a festival for- but who cares- so Sether were playing- they are something of a hot new band here- don’t know why- just rockers tiling their her and singing 1 cord over and over – only the name of the song changes- and another local communist group by name of red- also up and coming- never heard the names before- don’t plan too- but free concerts so I can’t complain (actually this was Sunday and not Saturday) it was a week ago I am confusing dates and events.

But that Saturday was swing night- and if you think salsa is hard- think again- so we went to a bohemian hall- a check institute with parquet floors- heads of deer on the walls and a live band- so they start with a swing lesson- a very happy peppy instructor- but the crowed was older at most- there must have been over a 100 people there in the lesson and they keep rotating so you dance with a lot- but in the lesson I only danced with much older woman- so next time I should know to be in the other side of the hall- so the lesson ended and the live swing band began to play- and I danced almost all night- with the younger girls on the other side. I am a lot more active here than I ever was- and my shyness will be gone soon… but the girls just sit and it is kind of funny- they keep their faces down so not to make eye contact- but lift their eyes hoping to get asked- so they are kind of begging without begging to dance- so we danced- strange at first the swing- but I slowly got the rhythm and got some good moves. I like Chinese- these Chinese girls are so skinny and light – it’s so easy twirling them, rotating- and turning- but after few hours of swing- I was so tired- and had a cramp in my leg- and barely made it till midnight- they warned me about it- they were right- I felt my muscles aching for a week.

So next morning I went to the market (this was before the jet ski and the rib festival)- they have a special market which is – a market – very surprising – so I got some good fruits finally – grapes, bananas, apricots, mishmash- I don’t know what they call mishmash here and pineapple. They had a large Mediterranean section with a lot of stuff I didn’t know existed in the middle east- but I got some needed spices for mu chili. And they had a live band outside- I really enjoy all of this free music- so I just set there listening to very good local band which I haven’t heard before- than I bought there CD, bought some meet pie ( I love meat pie- my Australian main Corse).

And went home- to go back to the jet ski  later.

 

Last week was memorial day- so I thought I would work Monday to replace with some other holiday – like the upcoming weeks holiday- so I worked half a day and went again to the rib off-for a free KC and the sun shine band (that’s the way ah ha I like it, shake that booty) concert- it is strange how the crowds change- nothing but white in the crowed for KC even though all his bands are black or Latino- and very nice dancers- photos soon.

 

I almost forgot about Indiana Jones- I guess there was a reason to forget- but the kitchi vegas movie was good  for a kitchi movie that is.

 

Memorial day here is strange- it is a happy holiday- they have boxing events- live concerts- and KC ended the show with his version of the national anthem- which had a nice touch to it. And also my very quiet neighbors at the cemetery are all soldiers- so the entire cemetery was filled with American flags- a very impressive site- but sad to know they all died for oil.

This week went by fast- with another Spanish meetup- slow progress, another hike on wedensday- we ddi the same hike as last time- but added another 3-2 k section later- so that was very nice and I went for dinner with folks from work – a very high quality Mexican place- which I am never going again- since that place is just bad- if you see Abouelos- don’t go in.

 

Oh I forgot about the tierd shopping thing- so before my date- 3 pages above- I went to get a hair cut- you remember I cut it short and wait till it is too long….- no change here- but it was to messed up- and I wanted to look pretty… so I went to my closest barber shop- now understand- I leave less than 2 k from work in Beachwood- but in another city- the border is the cemetery and my area is more colorful and so is the barber shop

I am used to going in- 10 minutes quick buzz and out- that place is a completely social experience-the clients don’t come for a hair cut but for the conversation- a barber was grooming this kid for an hour- and he left with the same length of hair. They use the N word- but only once- and then came my turn- he used a machine and took him an hour – I timed it to give me a bad hair cut- very deep into details- but I actually felt a sleep in the chair for a few moments- I can’t sit still that long- but I went since I was tired to object and was suppose to meet alla an hour later. Have I told you about alla? It is not short for Alexandra or anything- simply alla

 

So the weekend arrived with some activities

Friday was comedy improve night- a local group did something similar to whose line – a show I liked- and us in the crowed calling suggestions- and that was funny- from there we moved on to kareoki- and my stagefobia began- I took me an hour to write the song I wanted to sing- a song which eluded me for some time and took several years to track (since I didn’t know, the song name, band or lyrics- till amit helped….) so I posted my song and waited 2 hours for it to come- getting more nervous from second to second- so my turn came and the song has a line ‘I don’t mine faking…’ which is what I did and sister golden hair is screaming in her grave now- and I apologize to America (the band) for my performance- I will sing it in the car again.

 

Today was all about homework- took me half a day for it- and then it was time for the highlight of the week (alla was the week before)

The scavenger hunt.

Oh sorry- the week’s highlight is eilon moore- age 7 days – my nephew (from my brother yaron )- I will see him next week in denver.

So the scavenger hunt is a race for stuff- I got there and this meetup was mostly older crowds which felt strange- since I figured it want be fun- oh how I was wrong

I will wait with this story – need the photos- let just say my relationship with French fries has changed. And did you know I was rapping on stage tonight??!!!

 

So 1:15 now time to go to sleep- another marketing homework tomorrow

Oh I can’t leave without my usual cursing of the gods- it was a warm day today- and all of a sudden it was purring rain with strong hale- hale!!!! This is the last day of may- what the F is going on in heaven?

 

Oh and one more thing- after my family reunion 2 weeks ago I did some searching – and asked around

My grandma comes from a little village of chernovinchi – now in Ukraine- but than it was Romania- so I asked victor about his family and what a small world- my grandma knows his!!! My grandma at 89 remembers victors great grandfather as a very known person and head of the local socialist party- and says that thousands came to his funeral- apparently he was very well liked and respected- so we had my grand ma- 89 call victors grand ma- a youngster at  87  talk – and later I spoke with her and she sounded so much more energetic- than I remember in a long time- small world indeed.

 

So I probably forgot other stuff from last week- but I will share if I remember…

how to put 2 fridges in a car from june

That cold bastard!

 

You know the riddle on how to get an elephant to a fridge

 

So how do you get 2 fridges to a corolla

 

You open the door- and put 1 in the back seat

Then you open the other door and it doesn’t fit

So you take the 1^st one out and put the 2^nd one in

Then put the 1^st in another door.

The whole process in reveres when you take it out from the car

And again when you get them both back to the store since they are not good enough.

One of the fridges wasn’t big enough to put something in there- so I removed and changed a few pieces- it’s all back now but the fridge will never be the same again- but he got his revenge

When you return – it is not in the original smooth package – so that bustard of a fridge scratch my car (the inside of the door- now has a zoro like marking!) – that cold bustard.

So don’t put a fridge in a corolla – get a hummer.

Task number one- find a movie poster and pose the same- not a good job (or movie I think- though havnt seen it)

 

 

Task- find someone with a cowboy at and glasses- this guy had the hat and not glasses so we gave him glasses.

 

It is amazing- you tell someone you are in a scavanger hunt and they will go along with anything

 

I am waiting for the photos – of writing we are random with someone’s used fries.

So I held the sign- and a guy was parked next to us- so I said kiss me

He gave me such a look- I am heart broken

So I said kiss her- another woman in our team- and they lip kissed- then since the sign was not in the photo- they had to kiss again- they were not suppose to realy kiss- but the guy was excited and wanted to join

And followed us afor a few minutes

So we have me, heart broket, the guy with a cool story and one terrified woman with nightmares- as I said – fun.

These cam to the table life- they are called bowled shrimp- they like it there- they were jumping around feeling happy- till the chineese waiter guy poured alcohol all over them- and they were happier for a while- them were down and sleepy. Since obviously they were cold since shrimp has no fur- the waiter was kind enough to warm them with fire. I don’t think they liked it very much but they kept quiet- so sadly we ate them in silance.

This was a gormt meal I never want to eat again- I prefer when the animals comes in a stake format.

I am on my way to warm missisipy now- writing on the plane- and on the weekened going to denver to see Eilon moore- my newest nefew- who today doesn’t like Abraham very much- he will forget tough- but will he forgive?

 

I will send photos of the crasey stuff when I get it- and another rare photo of me in a suit- I cant believe they are sending me to sales events- me and a suit are not a good combination- I will die from the heat.

 

Oh – on the hunt – one task was to write a rap poem about a member of the team- so I did and later sang that on stage- so that made 2 songs night after night- I  may open a solo career.

Another task was to find road kill- we saw a life dear should have taken that as the before picture.

For weather and sports- the pistons lost – and in less then 7 games- so now it’s time for kobe to go down.

I missed eric claption- no body likes him here- I don’t know why-

But next week – the wailers (bob marleys band live) and the cure are here,- so far I am 1 of 4 concerts- not a good stat- but the cure I am not missing. Maybe I should buy the tickets now.

 

 

 In local politics- the new Raanaana meretz campaigner – Mr shai even- wants your vote (this is for the 10 people on this list from ranaanna)- vote meretz! Or you will get broida….. god forbid (I must have a god referance- it’s like the simpsons with the space mutents on haloween specials).

FW: I am going home from june

 

The subject is an Italian movie I saw last week, or didn’t saw since I fell asleep at the cinematec

I don’t think it’s a bad movie, I was just tired- so I went home after 20 minutes- so the title fits

 

But I saw iron man which I liked a lot- and I can’t recall a super hero movie which was better in some years (not superman,batman returns, fantastic 4,cat woman, the hulk (the last one not the current one- haven’t seen that)-

 

In concert news- saw the cure- the singer (don’t know his name) really worked his bleached face off- 3 hours non stop full of 2.5 hours of songs I didn’t know- so I guess it’s my fault for not keeping up- but a good show any way- I have bootleg recording from my cell phone but bad quality it sounds like ‘boys want to cry’

 

Tom petty is playing tomorrow – and still don’t know if I am going or not- but so many concerts are coming which is too much adrenalin for me since I will miss some by being out of town (including the police L ), but rod Stewart +brain Adams, radio head, Blondie, earth wind and fire, Madonna, UB40, Chicago (in Cleveland) and Boston (in Chicago), Billy idol, eagles, Niel young – all just this summer- the list never ends- I am too excited- oh and don’t forget boy George – karma chameleon is probably on my 80s top 10.

 

So last week was a busy weekend- went kayaking on rocky river which enters lake eerie which was fun- I was with someone on a triak (3 person kayak) and that is sensitive to waves- we almost went overboard, then had a barbeque + life music (someone with a guitar),  after that after a year of absence (cruise related shoulder injury) I got back to tennis – and very happy to see that the shoulder is fine- and played again this week with Alla

And yaoz the answer is no- you can tell that to the 3 gossip girls.

 

I wrote last time that I had a matchmaker- just for a clarification(since there was confusion)- that means someone gave me a number to call- not an actual matchmaker by profession- not that there is anything wrong with that- so Seinfeld was 2 hours away from here and I missed it- but he is touring and I will try to go.

 

So the next night after the tennis- I was on my 3rd race ever- the 1^st

^was when I was 10 (didn’t finish) the 2^nd a 2k when I was 13- barely finished, and now a 5 k- which I finished last- I knew I would finish last since my long distance running sucks- but I am in training- so james- watch out I am only 37 k away. Since I have a few spare minutes- I am join a soccer or volley ball co add league- I love this town.

 

So back to alla (not ella) few dates so far (cure included) and a very good Turkish restaurant – I never had a turkish doner before and it is better then shwarma!.

 

That is not all about the last 2 weeks- I was very busy with home work (org behavior project- which took a very long time and got in the way of Spanish, and cinema)

Some work also- so I missed 2 salsa nights and other events – sleep was needed- so the project is gone

And today back to normal

Which means hiking in 20 minutes (with alla and about 40 others), biking or game watching later in the gym and well see about later, with tom petty potentially for tomorrow

 

Oh- you cant say fuck here- but you can say F which is strange but ok

So next week I will be in Effingham –which sound like Fing them- and that is in Springfield Georgia- which is my 2^nd Springfield overall (the chase for homer has begun)

 

And btw –Springfield Tennessee has no nuclear reactor or a  quickie mart

Last night I stayed at the Hyatt in down town Kansas city- a very good hotel- so why do I complain?

 

After leaving Springfield Georgia on the way to Gothenburg (which means nowhere in some language) , Nebraska

 

I arrived to Kansas city- I had no idea why they booked the Hyatt – but I knew when I arrived- no free rooms in this city.

The problem is that there are two hyatts here…

So I leave baggage claim and go to the shuttle area- it’s already 9:30 and trafic is scarce

I ask some shuttle lady how to get to hyatt regency – and she says she will drive me (very nice of her) since she shuttles for the next hotel over

So we go and I am sitting next to a couple on the way back from their honeymoon and they say they were in the Bahamas watching the news from home (Iowa- which was flooded-  TV should be disallowed for honeymooners!)

So she dropped me of at hyatt place- I enter and verify if this is hyatt regency – and they say no

So they shuttle me back- now it’s around 10

I wait for 20 minutes and watch lots of shuttles for other destinations go by

So I ask another shuttle guy about mine- and he is going the other way- but he give me his number, and phone just in case I get stranded and says he will drive me for free- again very very nice of Justin to do that.

So I say thanx to him and go back to the phone to reach the hotel (they didn’t answer before)

And just as I head back to the airport- I see my shuttle go by…. So I run after it but it doesn’t see me

So I go back to the phones and try to call them- they don’t answer

I try to call the shuttle- no answer

Car rentals- the cheapest one was 80$ the others were sold out- no cars or rooms here!

So finally I go to some automatic macine and book a shuttle

So 1.5 hours after my landing I go to the hotel- 45 minutes away

 

Reach the hyat regency- and ofcourse my confirmation number doesn’t match- it was actually the 1^st hotel…

It’s 11:40 and I am tierd – they say there are no free rooms- so they offer me a conference room!- at half price from the other hotel- so 160 goes to 80- I agree- the problem with this room is that it has no shower

So my conference room with a beautifull view of the city, 2 tv’s 20 chairs sofas and stuff but no showers- this room is on the 40^th floor- and my shower is the gym shower- so I go down 40 floors go to the other side of the hotel- take and elevator- 4 floors, climb 1 floor walk 100 yards and then I see my shower

When I was in training at shivta- there was a river passing through our tent on the send- mud all around- and we walked with sandals in the cold – getting dirty from mud after the shower- that was easier!

 

So I ate soup and salad for late dinner and though it’s time to sleep- but surprise – no bad!

So I call the front desk and they bring me a foldout bed- and the price goes down to 40$

 

So hotel suite, 40^th floor, good view, no shower and a foldout bed- for a bargain price- and they gave me a complementary buffet breakfast- so that was good.

Now I am on the shuttle back to the airport

Ann arbor weekend and 2nd Springfield from june

 

I sent the photos but now it’s story time

 

So it’s Saturday morning and alla picks me up and we go hiking- with a group of 40 others – we arrive a few minutes late and miss the group- so we go alone- walking in rocky river national park

And the trails look like the above photo mostly- green all around

So after the hike we go to the movies- the hulk-a very good movie for an action movie anyway- good actors- and fun to watch- not an oscar though

And I tell her about an ABBA cover band in detroit the next day

 

She is spontanious and agrees to come- so that evening we drive to detroit- reach ann arobor michingan which is a suberb (so michigan became state 20)

After 3 hours hike + movie + 3.5 hours drive- I am sleepy but we go to a party- we find the night life site and see a place called the blind pig

We go in – and smoke is all around- michigan does not have the non smoking law- and there is a cover charge- but I see weird looking people which looks strange so we go in

And you have see the photos….crasy freaks all around- barely dressed and having fun.

I even drink!  I dont really care for vodka or crann berries but the combination is good- I get it without ice- so more vodka… and get 2 of those – we stayed there till almost closing time – and left smelling like an ashtray – but with a lot of photos and unforgetable memories (and some memories we want to forget!)

Next morning we found the Deli in ann arbour- ‘zingerman’ we came in early which was great- we were told that people wait an hour in line later… great chockolate milk- so rich, very good sandviches – the 2^nd half was our late lunchh- from there we moved to the arboretum- a small flora park

I finalyy got a good squirll photo- and ate some berries

And from there we drive to rochester hills – north of detroit – stop at a lake on the way

 

The house is next to the lake- and in case of fire- you don’t take watter from the lake but from the fire hydrent next to it- those are special anti fire water

 

And move on to the weekend highlight – ABBA

 

The band is called ABBA the tour and we have lawn tickets which were a bit too far- but we sing the entire show (or I sing mostly)- ABBA surprised me with some unknows songs- but included all the hits- and next to us on the long sits an israeli family- what are the odds- so they give us KFC and we give them duvshaniot.

 

Then we drive back- and the main highway is closed! So we have to detour – the long drive back I wnet to sleep at 3:50 to wake at 5 for my current trip.

So from Saturday to Friday

Ohio, michigan, ohio, goeargia, south carolina, goeargia, south carolina again (ibu went the wrong way again) goergia, north carolina (airport), fun night at kansas city missoury, nebreska in 1.5 hours and back to ohio tommorow.

But the carolinas don’t count- so nebreska will be my 22^nd state

 

 

In the springfield report- this is my 2^nd springfield overall (after tennesy) – they have good calzone but no nuclear plant, or a quickie mart

So the hunt continues…

FW: crime and punishment- from july

 

 

Why is money laundering such a crime, I tried that and almost got away with it

All it takes is forgetting a pair of pants in the washer, than in the drier and viola- money laundered

Money survived, US id survived , credit cart got crooked a bit- it’s American but not express any more- and my student ID will never be the same again

So I guess I should get off crime- it doesn’t pay

 

So with my cleaned cards we flew to DC for 4^th of july where we stayed at hotel Tania (a friend of Alla) who waited for with a good pizza, waffles for breakfast and all around a great service. Since I started my alcohol period- I am trying more- so it was tequila which is not new to me- but having never tried tequila sunrise- I tried it with diet fanta- kids, don’t try it at home, or anywhere…simply doesn’t work

 

The next day we went to DC, watched the last parts of the parade (last being the back side of the eagle balloon)

That is it- the rest we missed

 

DC museums are free so of course they are full-we visited the natural history museum- and saw some dinasours

 

 

We went for Baltimore harbor- for the Crab des la Crab- a crab feast at a fancy place- making it my most expensive meal today for me- so tania (that is not a hotel btw) and Genia (Tania fiancée)

Have already told us that we must eat 12 crabs so the place want make money of us- or at least not much

So I started eating crabs                      

And stopped at one- those things are hard work- so I had some chicken, ribs and deserts- so the restaurant guys like me- the crabs didn’t seem to care that much

Later there were fire works- some new stuff I have never yet seen- but we were a bit far to have the full sound effects

On the right are jenia, Tania, alla and the ghost of sue- I have no idea how my camera did that- I guess it’s a feature

A bit before that we took a short work in the Baltimore marina- when something attacked- people were running everywhere, screaming, shouting- all because of a cloudy air strike of rain

See the skies in the above photos- no clouds, they just sneak by, drop a whole lot of rain and go away

 

We went to DC the next morning- this time to the spy museum- I can tell you about it but I will have to kill you later with another long email

I wasn’t looking forward to this museum- but I was surprised- lots of interactive stuff and various spy history throughout the ages- took us 3 hours and we skipped through a whole lot

 after a meal in a place that has this boot glass in a trophy case- from some movie I was told- we started walking DC

We saw congress and the white house- neither was white- and the david levi joke was not funny any more

 

 

So 4 hours later- returned to hotel Tania and  went to a club- so I tried something new- dolce limon- done be fooled- it’s dolce but not sweet- and too strong for me- so I had to water it down- a lot- so next time stick to the basics and order lemonade.

This is DC- so we got talking politics- and I was left puzzled, since the candidates seem to be with no substance

There was this Indian who talked about saving the earth and stuff, he was passing our brochures, so I was a smart ass and said- you should pass out paper if you want to save the planet- but this wise ass quickly pointed out my brochures (my usual map)- which left me with no reply.

 

 

I think I am in san Antonio right now, nor really sure, since I will be this week in Denver, emperial Nebraska, san Antonio again, dallas and back to Cleveland- so a flying kind of week

I arrived on time- but my suit case chose to remain behind- I had to buy food and clothes in wal mart- again a good hotel with basic stuff lacking- but they had a bed and shower… just missed my camera charger- so how can I take photos…

 

Go some sad news today- jerry had reached life #9

After falling of the 2^nd floor, bath in a grown dog tick shampoo (while he was a kitten), smashing to a glass door (not so smart), being run over, ran in to the house while sprayed for bugs

And survived all that- Jerry died from flower sniffing- apparently Shoshan tzhahor (which is my sisters favorite flower) can be poisonous-  remembering jeris history- this is both funny and sad.

Now Tom remains with no one to toy with…
