on a perfect winter day,

What an amazing winter day. I took the kids out to bring the trash back in (12 hours too late) and the sun rays felt warm on my skin, so rare in winter. a while later I loaded up Mattan and drove to Hinckly reservation, where in the fall we last hiked. i estimated 10 years for this journey, i hope 10 will be enough, now that the trail gets further and further away, i need to find better ways to make more distance per trip. without a 2nd car, i hike and have to double back. Lots of hikers and runners were out there as it is buzzard Sunday weekend and a trail race was held, we had lots and lots of company.

Mattan didn't stop talking for a second the whole 2 hours of the hike. including saying such as
"I suppose.."
"Actually lets go in the mud
"they are dirty" (the trail runners)
"i am a very useful engine
we are in the forest
dad, what is that (usually referring to sound)
watch out of the log
what a large log
i want marooooooojjjjjjjnnna (ice cream)

the trail was a bit muddy, mostly fine, but some points were tricky. i carried the little shoulder package most of the way. Mattan doesn't like to get dirty, and the concept of mud on the bottom of his shoe is disturbing to him. being muddy for me in the woods is normal.
we hiked by the very pretty ledges of hinckly. these are broken off rock formations, forming cliffs, they are also very green with algae and the combination is interesting. several runners asked if i could carry them as well...  this 35 pounds weight is enough for me, a very good work out.

half way we stopped snacks, oranges for me and rice crispy treat for mattan.
in some small sections mattan walked as well, enjoying the stairs in the ledges and the down hill parts.

with blue skies, warm weather and supply of oranges, i think i could hike all day. at one location we spotted small blue flowers, a rarity , first wild flowers of the season.

we returned to the car after 5-6 K with my shoes and pants muddy, socks a bit wet, and mattan as clean he was as we left home.

we stopped at a grocery store and Mattan got his ice cream, then we spotted and antique shop. 20 minutes later we left the store, Mattan with ice-cream all over his face and an old helicopter and I with clean face and some disks. this helicopter seems decades old, i give it two weeks at most under the care of toy breaker.

Mattan fell a sleep on the way home and an hour later in the car. had time to enjoy a quiet meal.

in the after noon, with both kids, played with both made them schnitzel , and now Nathan is hers and they are watching Pepe pig while tal is is sleeping.

why isn't every day like this...  its raining tomorrow :(  1st orienteering of the season- why rain why

cheers
